Faith...
Hmmm...
Take this as an example:
46Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus (that is, the Son of Timaeus), was sitting by the roadside begging.
47When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!"
48Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, "Son of David, have mercy on me!"
49Jesus stopped and said, "Call him." So they called to the blind man, "Cheer up! On your feet! He's calling you."
50Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus.
51"What do you want me to do for you?" Jesus asked him.
The blind man said, "Rabbi, I want to see."
52"Go," said Jesus, "your faith has healed you." Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.
Bartimaeus have very strong faith in God.
And I want to be like him.
He knew his Value to God.
The Bartimaeus means the Son of Timaeus.
Timaeus in this case means that highly prized.
Therefore, Bartimaeus means the Son of the Highly Prized.
Thus, He knew hsi identity in God.
the Son Of the HIGHLY PRIZED.
He knew God's ability also.
He called Jesus "Son Of David"
this show his comprehension of that name and that he knew GOD'S ABILITY.
But Jesus is not the son of David.
He is the Son of Joseph:[Mary and Joseph]
So why is he called Son of David?
Jeremiah 25:5-6
"The days are coming," declares the LORD,
"when I will raise up to David [a] a righteous Branch,
a King who will reign wisely
and do what is just and right in the land.
6 In his days Judah will be saved
and Israel will live in safety.
This is the name by which he will be called:
The LORD Our Righteousness.
This verses tell us that our Lord Jesus is the Son of David.
And this shows BArtimaeus's understanding of that name and his understanding of Jesus.
BArtimaeus also knew how to NOT GIVE UP.
Mark 10:48
Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, "Son of David, have mercy on me!"
many of them rebuke him.
He canchoose to keep quiet and resides back into his corner...
But no...
He did not GIVE UP.
He "Shouted even more"
This shows His perserverence...
As he believe...
And he did not stop believing...
With Faith, all things are possible. Amen!
Lastly...
He Acted in faith.
Jesus Created Opportunity for him to act out in faith... [verse 49]
And He did.
49Jesus stopped and said, "Call him." So they called to the blind man, "Cheer up! On your feet! He's calling you."
Jesus was testing his faith.
Because he is blind...
He can't see and cant walk properly.
But he stood up and WALKED IN FAITH... Because he believed.
Verse 50
Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus.
Why did he throw his cloak aside???
Wearing and Putting your cloak on Shows your respect to the person...
Thus, Why did he throw his cloak away?
Is he being Disrespectful?
NO.
Last time, Beggers spread their cloak on the floor to collect money...
And people would throw money on their cloak.
But as he throw his cloak away...
he is saying that He dont need it anymore.
This is also an act of Faith.
Verse 51
"What do you want me to do for you?" Jesus asked him.
The blind man said, "Rabbi, I want to see."
Jesus Is testing his faith once again.
And BArtimaeus, By SPEAKING out his request, shows that he Believed..
And God healed Him...
Daddy God,
I want to be like Jesus Lord...
Teach me your ways Lord...
Direct me and Help me walk the way that is pleasing unto you God.
daddy God I love You God..
I want to be a child in awe of You God.
Love You daddy God..
Amen.
